When you say Communism and Romania, certainly the name of Ceausescu comes to your mind. Nothing says more what this regime meant for Romania than the House of People, a spectacular building by its size, but an enormous burden put on people for achieving a megalomaniac desire. Although it's been built more than a quarter of century ago, the building preserves many of it’s original elements from the communist era. If you are impressed from outside by the enormous concrete structure, the interior will overwhelm you with its huge halls, furniture and decorative items and, of course, the amazing stories of your guide. Our Communism itinerary continues in Revolution Square, the symbol of the 1989 revolution against communist regime. An important part of the history of the 1989 events were written about 100 kilometers away from Bucharest, in Targoviste. Here you will visit the military unit in which Ceausescu and his wife were held and judged immediately after the outbreak of the revolution. This journey will describe, to a certain extent what communism meant for Romania, but the story may be completed by talking to any Romanian who is now over 40 years old.
